Shirley Ann (Wheeler) Dannels' Obituary
Shirley Ann (Wheeler) Dannels, age 77, of Chanute, KS passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 in Chanute, KS. Shirley was born on July 5, 1938 in the rural Thayer/Earlton area, the daughter of Leonard Wheeler, Sr. and Flossie (Matlock) Wheeler.
Shirley married James Wooldridge, Sr. and they later divorced. After that she married her lifelong companion Frank E. Dannels, they were together for 45 years. Frank survives her at the home.
Shirley came from a large family and was a very family oriented person. She had a good sense of humor and especially enjoyed sharing antics with her grandkids. She could cook anything and what she did make was very good to eat. She was even the owner of a truck stop restaurant in Chanute for many years. She loved being outdoors whether it was camping, fishing, hunting mushrooms or rabbits, or even just going on a joy ride. At home she spent her time reading, watching westerns, having fun with her family and sharing her life with her dog, Angel. Her family describes her as a happy person who loved life, her family, and pets.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Inez Lea Wooldridge; a granddaughter: Denise Dawn Bertie; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the South Center Cemetery in Thayer, KS. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, Johnson Chapel. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
