Susan Teague's Obituary
Loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Susan “Susie” Sweet Teague entered into eternal rest peacefully at the young age of 59 on February 7, 2023 after her long and difficult battle with melanoma cancer.
Susie was born October 24, 1963 in Fort Huachuca, Arizona to John and Pat Sweet, their third child. When Susie was two years old her parents moved back to Grenola to help with the family grocery store. She attended Burden High School where she set records in track and shot put. Susie worked various jobs throughout her young life including helping out in the family store, waitressing, as well as other odd jobs.
Susie always had a passion for music, specifically singing, song writing, and playing guitar. In May of 1989, the band S.I.G.M.A was formed, during which Susie wrote a majority of their 140 songs over the next thirty years.
By September of 1989, Susie started dating Kenny Teague. The two of them asked Jesus into their hearts in April of 1994, starting a lifelong walk and devotion to Jesus Christ, a faith that they would pass on to all their children. In 1996, after dating for seven years, Susie married Kenny, creating a beautiful blended family of children which included Wendy, Megan, Davin, Andy and Misty.
It was during this time they demonstrated their love for the Lord by becoming youth group leaders and going on missionary trips. In 1996 Susie and Kenny became members of the Grenola United Methodist Church and were the youth group leaders for 14 years and went on many mission trips. Most notably, Haiti in 1998 and 1999, working on a dental clinic, hospital, and school. In 2005 they went to Dulac, Louisiana to help rebuild a church two months after Hurricane Katrina. Other missionary work included traveling to Monterrey Mexico, Taos New Mexico, and El Paso Texas. Every mission trip, they would take their guitars and play their music. By 1997 they started preaching in churches and by 2003 they both became certified lay ministers. In 2006, they started Teague Construction where they worked on numerous jobs that she took great pride in.
Susie was preceded in death by her mother Pat Sweet and survived by her father John Sweet, sister Shari (Lenny) Peres, brothers Todd Sweet and Tony (Will) Sweet, husband of 33 years Kenny, daughters Wendy (Marcus) Dunkin, Megan (Ron) Babin, Misty (Miles) Jacobsen, and sons Davin (Holly) Blizard and Andy (Heather) Teague. As well as numerous grandchildren including: Sara, Ashley, Madison, Colziah, Kymber, Logan, Konner, Garrett, Hunter, Madilyn, Layla, Kaizen, Everlyse, Nathan and Raegan.
Susie was a Godly woman and an incredibly strong warrior. She left a legacy to her family of God’s amazing love and grace, and was an example of faith to all who knew her. We look forward to the day that we will be reunited in the Kingdom.
