Susie Roe's Obituary
Edwanna Lillian (Hyatt) Roe, known to most as Susie, age 79 of Grenola, KS, went to be with the Lord early Friday morning, April 28, 2023 at Rest Haven in Winfield, KS.
Sue was born February 28, 1944 in Little Rock, AR to James Edgar Hyatt and Ona Bea Lillian Graham Hyatt. At a young age her father passed away and her mother remarried to James Richard Moore. They then moved to the rural Burden, KS area, where Sue continued her education and graduated from high school at Burden.
On March 3, 1962, Sue was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Eugene Roe in Grenola, KS. This union lasted 58 years until his passing in June 2020. Together they had one son, Bret Cody Roe of Wichita, KS.
Soon after their marriage, they moved to Colorado to work on a ranch for a short time. They eventually moved back to the Grenola area where they worked on the Eagle Head Ranch for 30+ years. During that time, Sue worked several years at Binny and Smith, and the Crayola factory.
She was a survivor of Lymphoma and stage 3 liver cancer – That says a lot for the fighter she was.
In the early 1990’s, Don and Sue moved to their own small ranch north of Grenola, where they eventually retired to.
Sue is survived by her son, Bret Roe of Wichita, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Don.
Memorial service to honor Sue will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, KS.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grenola Senior Center and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
Services entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, PO Box 1233, Howard, KS 67349
