Ted Leon Wolf's Obituary
Ted Leon Wolf, 87, a resident of rural Fredonia, passed away on August 7, 2015 at the Life Care Center in Wichita, KS. Ted was born on January 8, 1928 in Andover, KS to Floyd Monroe and Dorothy Garnett (Sloan) Wolf.
Ted grew up north of Andover and graduated as Class President of Andover High School in 1945. After working on a custom wheat harvesting crew, he joined the US Navy and served two years as an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer. After the Navy, he worked at Wilson Field in Wichita as an aircraft mechanic. In August of 1950 Ted married Donna Ruth Francis of Rose Hill, KS. Ted and Donna bought a farm six miles east of Fredonia and in 1955 the couple moved there where they resided for 60 years.
Ted loved flying. He obtained his private and commercial pilots license shortly after high school. Ted was a farmer and raised Hereford cattle. While operating the farm, Ted also worked as an aircraft mechanic at Beechcraft in Wichita. He was assigned to the Experimental Section, where he helped in the development and testing of the King Air, Queen Air and Bonanza aircraft models. He traveled the world helping investigate crashes of Beechcraft planes. Ted also worked in car sales, and in the body shop at Browns Chevrolet in Fredonia. Ted also operated a Certified Tree Farm of walnut trees on their property. In his spare time, Ted was an avid reader, an artist and Civil War history buff. Ted enjoyed building model airplanes, talking politics, watching western movies, riding his 4-wheeler, and attending dances on Saturday nights in Altoona.
Ted is survived by his son; Allen (Farrellynn) Wolf of Olathe, KS. daughter; Cindy Huckins of rural Fredonia, sister; Glennis Bell of Wichita, KS, brother; Jack (Marilyn) Wolf of Wichita, KS and Granddaughters; Andrea Wolf of Dallas, TX and Kristin (Luke) Rebenitsch of Oklahoma City, OK.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Donna.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia with Pastor Loren Rovenstine officiating. Interment will be held Thursday, August 13 at 3:00 at the Andover Cemetery, Andover, KS. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the funeral service at the Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia.
