Theodora Elise Johnson's Obituary
Theodora “Teddy” Elise Johnson, 77, of Chanute, KS, passed away on December 24, 2017. She was born on May 12, 1940, to Benjamin George Spencer and Elise Katrina (Peterson) in Olathe, Kansas.
Teddy married Fredrick John Moritz of Bellingham, Washington on June 21, 1959. They had 4 children: Amelia Elizabeth, Jon Karl, Stefan James, and Laurel Ann. They later divorced and she was remarried to Thomas Edwin Johnson in November 1983 in Portland, OR. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2011.
Teddy had a 2 year degree in library science from Baker College in Kansas. She loved books and worked in school and city libraries for many years. Teddy had a sweet disposition and she loved the Lord and gathering with her church family to worship God and was a member of Church of Christ in Chanute. She enjoyed Bible study and loved all people and knew no stranger; she collected friends wherever she went. She loved her children, her grandchildren and especially her 12 great grandchildren in Kansas and 12 more in Oregon and Washington. Teddy was very attached to her caregiver, Shona Shultz, who took care of her and was as much of a friend as an employee. Teddy loved reading, journaling and enjoyed watching television as well.
Teddy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; sister, Frances Owens; and son, Stefan Moritz.
A private graveside service will be held and the family will host a memorial service at a later date. Memorials have been suggested to Church of Christ and may be left with or mailed to the church.
