Theresa Joy Walker's Obituary
Theresa Joy Walker, 67, of Fredonia, KS, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, August 8th, 2024. She was at her home in Fredonia, KS, surrounded by her loving family. Theresa was born in Hutchinson, KS, on January 14th,1957, to Carroll and Joyce Snell.
Theresa attended grade school, middle school, and high school in Hutchinson, KS. After high school, Teresa received her nursing degree through Neosho County. She was a nurse for over 20 years.
Theresa loved her family and cats. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mom, Mimi, Mamaw, and aunt. Her favorite pastime was spending time with those she loved. She often took her grandchildren and great grandchildren to the park and zoo.
Theresa met the love of her life, Robert Mendenhall, in 1971, through mutual friends. They shared 31 years of marriage, along with 3 children, prior to the death of Robert in 2004. Theresa was blessed to find another love with Richard Walker, of Fredonia, KS. They were married on August 29, 2007. They shared their life together in Fredonia, KS. They enjoyed their multiple grandkids and spending time together with family and friends.
Theresa is survived by: husband Richard Walker, of Fredonia, KS, daughters Jennifer (Troy) Reasoner of Cheney, KS, Monica (Chris) Ayers of Bartlesville,OK, and son, Brad (Jennifer) Mendenhall of Hutchinson, KS; sister Mary (Michael) Nowlan, Hutchinson, KS, sister Lori Reed Hutchinson, KS, Step-children: Klay, Josh, Karen and Kate, 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, and many step-grandchildren.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, baby brother, and her 1st love, Robert Mendenhall.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum St., Hutchinson, KS 67502 on Saturday August 17th, from 12:00pm-2:00pm. Friends and family are welcome to come fellowship with one another, sharing memories and condolences. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to an animal shelter/rescue of your choice, as Theresa was always happy to help a stray cat in need.
