Thomas Elmer Adsmond Sr.'s Obituary
Thomas Elmer Adsmond, Sr., age 76 of Leon, KS, passed away December 8, 2024 at his home.
Thomas was born June 7, 1948 in El Dorado, KS to Walter and Betty (Garner) Adsmond. He grew up in Piedmont, KS alongside his 3 siblings, attending Piedmont schools.
During his grade school years, Thomas met a young girl who would become his high school sweetheart, and later his wife. On December 10, 1966, Thomas married Betty Murphy in Howard, KS. Together, they raised their 2 sons, Thomas Jr., and Ron, and spent nearly 56 years together until her death in 2022.
Thomas retired from Beech Aircraft in Wichita after 30 years of service as a Brake Operator. He then went to work as a car salesman, where he found his most favorite job he ever had at Quality Chevrolet. It was there he was given the nickname Sumo, which he kind of liked. He was a fan of classic cars, race cars, and enjoyed racing at the 81 Speedway. Even when he wasn’t racing himself, he enjoyed going to watch.
Later in life, Thomas started watching baseball and football, which he thoroughly enjoyed watching with his son Ron. He liked to take his family on trips to visit family in Howard and take them to Fall River. He also enjoyed going on vacations to Washington and Minnesota.
