Thomas Lynn Cloke's Obituary
Thomas Lynn Cloke, 74, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas. He was born on March 25, 1950, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Richard V. Cloke and O. Helen (Gardner) Cloke.
Born into an Air Force family, Tom experienced a life of travel and adventure during his early years. He graduated from Chanute High School in 1968 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pittsburg State University. In 1969, he joined the United States Army and served honorably until his discharge in 1970.
Tom dedicated his professional life to helping others as a vocational counselor for the ANW Special Education Cooperative. His commitment to service extended beyond his career; he was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was also a proud member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
Tom had a wide array of interests that reflected his zest for life. He enjoyed golf, meteorology, aviation, skydiving, and cheering on KU basketball. An avid animal lover, he found joy in the companionship of animals throughout his life. Above all, Thomas was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as "Tippy."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Helen Cloke, and his brother Richard Cloke. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Carla Boman; children Aaron (Michele) Hockett, Alison (Brian) Morris, Skye (Chip) VanHouden and Chelsea (Robby) Reed; grandchildren Jacody, Jerica, and Jarynn Hockett; Abigail Morris; Savanna, Chae, and Tristen VanHouden; Bobby and Jaden Reed; and his brother David Cloke.
Tom will be remembered for his dedication to others and the joy he brought to those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him. A Celebration of Tom’s life will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, Kansas with full military honors on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:00am. Memorial contributions can be made in Tom’s name to your local animal shelter and can be left with the funeral home. The family has entrusted services to Countryside Funeral Home.
