Timothy Wayne Charboneau's Obituary
Timothy Wayne Charboneau, age 23, of Erie, KS, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 after a motor vehicle accident near Erie. Tim was born August 11, 1990 in Iola, KS, the son of Jami (Foster) Charboneau.
Tim graduated from Iola High School. In November 2008, he joined the Kansas Army National Guard. In 2010 he was ordered to active duty in Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he served for just over a year. While in Afghanistan, he earned the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Nato Afghanistan Service Medal, an Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, an Army Service Ribbon, an Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. At the time of his passing Tim was serving with the 242 ND Engineer Company.
On August 17, 2013, Tim married Valarie Renae Landell in Erie, KS. He worked for Post Rock Energy as a rig hand.
Tim is survived by his wife; Valarie, son; Kaden Charboneau, step-daughter; Madison Nelson all of the home, mother; Jami Thyer and husband Timothy of Iola, KS, sister; Brandi Dixon of Iola, KS, step-brother; Matthew Thyer and wife Jacie of Iola, KS, step-sister; Anna Thyer of Iola, KS, grandmother; Julie Dible of Gas City, KS, mother and father in-law; Sherrie and John Nichols of Walnut, KS, sister-in-laws; Samantha and Brittney Landell of Walnut, KS, nephews; Micol, Titan, and Shayden Dixon of Iola, and Trenton and Brentley Thyer of Iola, KS, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tim was preceded in death by his grandfather; Bill Dible.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 6-8p.m., at Countryside Funeral Home-Johnson Chapel. Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 13, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at the Fellowship Regional Church, 214 W. Madison, Iola, KS. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Iola, with military honors.
Family suggests memorials to the Charboneau children’s educational fund, and may left with or mailed to the funeral home. Countryside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
