Tommy "Tom" Crain's Obituary
Tommy Lee “Tom” Crain, age 80 of Fredonia, KS, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at Fredonia Regional Hospital.
Tom was born July 24, 1941 in Miami, OK to Melvin and Clarrissia (Row) Crain. Tom was always proud member of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe. He grew up alongside 6 siblings, and graduated from Clearwater High School.
In July 1968, Tom joined the United States Army, serving his country for 8 years. During his service, he spent time in Alaska and Vietnam, and earned the Bronze Star among many other medals. He then went to work for Boeing in Wichita, where he retired after 25 years as a flight line mechanic.
During his time at Boeing, Tom met Linda Shay, and on July 4, 1981, they were married in Fredonia, KS. Together, they had one daughter and this July would’ve celebrated 41 years together. In their early marriage, they lived in Mulvane, KS before moving to Fredonia, KS. They enjoyed camping and traveling, and pulled their fifth wheel to the south for the winter for several years.
Tom loved being a husband, dad, and pappa. He made sure to never miss a ball game or dance recital.
Tom is survived by his wife, Linda

2 Grandchildren, Shaylee and Stockton
Siblings: Barbara Miller, Lloyd Crain, Lawrence “Butch” Crain, and Monty Crain
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, and siblings, Richard Crain and Delores Miller
Per Tom’s wishes, cremation has been requested
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the Fredonia City Cemetery with Military Honors
Memorial contributions can be made to the VFW Post 3018 or to Countryside Funeral Home for Tom’s grandchildren’s education fund and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
