Vada L. Joy's Obituary
Vada L. Joy 76, of Fredonia, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. Vada was born on October 27, 1949, in Neodesha, KS., the daughter of Carl and Christine (Kilgore) Bonner.
Vada was raised on the farm and stayed true to her heritage her entire life, graduating from Fredonia High School, Vada married Dan Joy in December of 1967, to this union they had one daughter, Tracy. Later on in life, Vada and Dan divorced.
Vada was a member of the Buxton Christian Church. Vada worked for several years for Sherwin Williams and then took a job at Kansas Bank Note until her retirement. After retirement, Vada became a caregiver to many local ladies in the area including her mother. Vada enjoyed working in her yard and being out of doors. On Vada’s adventuring side, she loved drag car racing and going to the events when she could. Vada was a loving friend to many and would help out whenever she could. She loved her family, and all others she considered to be family.

Vada was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Earl Bonner, and a grandson Shon.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 5-7 at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to either Harry Hynes Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
