Valjean Franklin Webb's Obituary
Valjean Franklin Webb, age 93, of Chanute, KS, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, with his family by his side. Valjean was born February 8, 1922 the son of James and Winnie (Endicott) Webb in Pharoh, OK.
Val grew up in Vera, OK and graduated from Vera High School. He then joined the Army Air Corp during WWII and served as a Radio Operator in New Guinea, Guam, and the Philippians. After his honorable discharge from the military, he was in the sewing machine business. In 1972 he went to work for Rolco Manufacturing where he worked as a foreman for 22 years. Val retired in 1994. After his retirement he helped with the St Patrick Bargain Store.
Val married Juanita Bowman on May 19, 1946 and they later divorced. He then married Clara M. Roles on May 2, 1980 in Miama, OK and in October they exchanged their Catholic vows.
Val was preceded in death by his parents; James and Winnie, his first wife; Juanita, son; James H. Webb, step-son; Bobby D. Roles, step-daughters; Mary Alice Marrs, Louise Packard, Beverly Seefeldt, brothers; Robert Webb, Dale Webb, sisters; Mildred Yeager, Rosie Passmore, and Sherryl Webb.
He is survived by his wife; Clara of Chanute, daughter, Rita Strack and husband Mike of Collinsville, OK, brother; Bill Webb of Collinsville, OK, sisters; Shirley Altmark of Sarasota, FL, Jane Kaufman of Bosie ID, and numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be prayed Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery with the Chanute Honor Guard presenting military honors. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick Catholic School and may be left with the funeral home.
