Velma Ellen Mason's Obituary
Velma Ellen Mason, 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at NMRMC in Chanute, KS. Velma was born on September 27, 1936 in Rocky Ford, Colorado The daughter of Paul and Cleo (Gatton) Tate.
In October of 1953 Velma married Leonard Joseph Mason and they had 5 children together. Leonard passed away February 1, 2012.
Velma worked in the electronics industry for Kustom Electronics, Bird View and retired from a supervisory position from Everbrite. After retirement she worked at Chanute Healthcare and Brighter Beginnings. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed watching her grandkids participate in sports, musicals, and dramas. Velma also enjoyed attending the Saturday Morning Coffee Club. Velma was a member of the Faith Bible Church of Chanute, Kansas.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, her brothers Raymond Tate and Paul Wayne Tate and sisters Lucille King, Normalee Stephens, Elma Spradley, and Claudena McMillan.
She is survived by her son Rick Lee Mason; her daughters: Brenda Elaine Foster, Penny Jo Wood, Kelly Ranee Diller, and Ann Marie John; 20 Grandchildren, 33 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; and sister-in-laws: Rose Smith and Evelee Mason.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Nazarene in Chanute Kansas. Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
Family requests memorials to Brighter Beginnings or Bible Impact Ministries with the Faith Bible Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home at 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS.
