Verlene "Sue" Faye Trim's Obituary
Verlene "Sue" Faye Trim, a beloved mother, grandmother, and community member, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at the age of 93, in Chanute, Kansas. Born on February 21, 1932, in Cestos, Oklahoma, she lived a full and vibrant life, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
Sue was the daughter of George and Rosa (Redinger) Magee, and she was preceded in death by her parents, her cherished husband Carl Trim, her brothers Jaydean "Jake" Magee and Alvin Magee, her sisters Merlene Ogden and Norma Lee Hinshaw, and her beloved daughter-in-law Ronda Trim. Despite her losses, Sue's spirit remained resilient, and she devoted her life to her family, friends, and faith.
She is survived by her two sons, Rick (Kay) Trim of Humboldt, KS, and Ronnie (Debra) Trim of Thayer, KS, and sister, Jan (Ron) Spatz of Yukon, OK. Sue was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, the doting great-grandmother of twenty great-grandchildren, and the delighted great-great-grandmother of four great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she nurtured each one with love and joy.
Sue’s education began in the small town of Richmond, Oklahoma, where she attended school before embarking on a lifelong journey of service and dedication. She worked for over twenty years at the Neosho County Courthouse, where her kind heart and dedicated work ethic left a lasting impression on those around her.
A faithful member of the Thayer Christian Church for more than sixty years, Sue's life was marked by her enthusiasm for community service and her love of volunteering. She was an active participant in church activities, helping to cook for events and supporting the clothing ministry. Her kindness touched many lives, and she will be remembered for her generous spirit.
In her leisure time, Sue found joy in simple pleasures. She loved to crochet, especially making pot holders, and enjoyed riding her side-by-side around the countryside. She cherished weekly coffee gatherings at the Sunshine Diner every Tuesday and Saturday and looked forward to dinner at the Senior Center every Thursday. An avid card player, she created beautiful memories with her sisters, meeting halfway between Kansas and Oklahoma for card games that would last an entire week, filled with laughter and stories.
Sue and Carl were married on May 15, 1948, in Taloga, Oklahoma, sharing a loving partnership that spanned 46 years until his passing in 1994. Their love was a testament to the power of companionship, and Sue often spoke of the fond memories they created together.
