Verna Earline Owens' Obituary
Verna Earline Owens, age 83, of Chanute, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in Iola, Kansas. Verna was born on January 15, 1932 in Chanute, KS the daughter of Vaugh Brooks and Irene (Bossel) Brooks.
In 1959, Verna married Roosevelt Owens who preceded her in death in 1984.
She worked for 26 years as a housekeeper for Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. Verna enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching westerns and baseball on television and was a KU and Royals fan. Verna was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Chanute.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roosevelt; son Todd Owens; daughters Regina Brooks and Vanessa Owens Waller; brothers Michael Brooks and Vaughn Brooks Jr.; sister Rowana Brooks; and grandson Joaquia Brooks.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Countryside Funeral Home, Gibson Chapel at 1:00 p.m. There will be a visitation on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Countryside Funeral Home, Gibson Chapel from 5-7 p.m. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
