Vernen C. Martin's Obituary
Vernen C. Martin, age 88 of Upola, KS died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Vernen was born on October 23, 1927 in Mulvane, KS the son of John Monroe and Iva L. (Snyder) Martin
Vernen drove semi for more than 30 years, he worked at Hackney in Independence and retired from Koch Industries of Wichita, KS. Vernen was a 60 year member of the Mason’s, Patmos Lodge #97 of El Dorado, and 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. Vernen had the gift to repair any type of equipment, if he couldn’t find the part, he could make it. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing and raising his cattle.
On June 23, 1970 Vernen married Johnna Lou Gragg, they have been married for 45 years and
Johnna survives at their home.

Vernen was preceded in death by his parents, 9 brothers and sisters, daughter Tamara Martin and 2 grandchildren Michael Farrar and Gary Lee Wise Jr.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 6, 2016 from 10:00 Am until noon at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, private burial to follow at a later time. Memorials have been suggested to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Patmos Masonic Lodge #97 and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
