Vernon Eugene Myers' Obituary
Vernon Eugene Myers, age 88 of Chanute, KS, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Country Place Senior Living in Chanute, KS. He was born on March 31, 1931 in Neosho County, KS, the son of Raymond and Lena (Salzman) Myers. He graduated from Chanute High School. On November 7, 1954, Vernon married Ann Tomlinson in Chanute, KS.
Vernon served in the United States Army in the Korean War from September 18, 1952 to August 5, 1954. He worked as a farmer, for Lampliters and for USD #413 in maintenance. Vernon enjoyed raising and showing Limousin cattle. Later in life he was known for having the best manicured lawn in the neighborhood. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Chanute.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ann Myers.
The family will greet friends at Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel in Chanute, KS on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, KS. The Chanute Honor Guard and Legion Riders will be in charge of the military honors. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family suggests memorials to be made to the American Legion - Veterans Wall and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 101 N.
