Violet Marie Ferguson's Obituary
Violet Marie Ferguson, age 97, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. She was born on August 24, 1914 in Hamilton, Kansas the daughter of Harry and Hope (Kester) Meadows.
Violet was a graduate of Coyville High School. On June 23, 1934 she married Walbert W. “Bill” Ferguson who preceded her in death on December 4, 1985. Violet and Bill farmed west of Coyville until they retired in 1976 and moved to Fredonia. Violet went to work as a nurse aide at the Fredonia Regional Hospital. After 25 years she retired at the age of 88. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Fredonia.
Violet is survived by her five daughters; Hope and Gary Fitzmorris of Fredonia, Kansas, Myra and Don Creel of Sedan, Kansas, Twila and Bill McFarland of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Letha and Bob Zimmerman of Douglass, Kansas and Sandra and Roger Pond of Raymore, Missouri, one son Wally Ferguson of Indianapolis, Indiana, two sisters; Julia Foreman of Aurora, Missouri and Delpha Peterson of Redmond, Oregon, one brother Carl Meadows of Fredonia, Kansas, 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 at Countryside Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremiah Baird officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Fredonia Regional Hospital Foundation and may be left in care of the funeral home.
