Violet "Ruby" Nantz's Obituary
Violet “Ruby” Nantz, age 103, of Chanute, KS, passed away on November 23, 2018. Ruby was born on March 14, 1915 in rural Wilson County, KS to Steve and Myrtle (Winterrowd) Moffatt. She graduated from Chanute High in 1933 and then married Clifford Nantz the following year. As his wife, Ruby enjoyed her duties as a minister’s wife and homemaker. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2013 after 78 years of marriage.
Ruby was the most precious woman to ever walk the earth, according to those that knew her best. She was very sweet with rarely a harsh word for anyone and wasn’t one to complain, even when she was in pain towards the end of her time on earth. Ruby was a rarity in her forward-thinking attitude and open mindedness which resulted in her being very non-judgmental. In her spare time, Ruby enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She will be missed dearly by those who loved her, especially the staff at Guest Home Estates II, where she called home the last few years of her life.
Ruby is survived by:
Nieces and Nephews
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; son, Charles “Ted” Nantz; brothers, Tom and Wilber Moffatt; and sisters, Ruth Hanold and Claudia Moffatt.
