Virginia Ruth Lefferd's Obituary
Virginia Ruth Lefferd passed away September 29, 2018 in Fredonia. She was born on July 7, 1925, to John Robert Lamb and Dell Marie Lamb near Fall River in Wilson County.
Virginia attended rural schools and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1943.
She began working after high school at Kansas Bank Note Company where she met William S. Lefferd who she married in May 1948 at Eldorado Kansas
As a youth Virginia was a member of 4H. As an adult she participated in various activities, some of which included the American Legion Auxiliary, being a Cub Scout Den Leader and a Boy Scout Committee Member. She worked with the Kansas Trails Council establishing trails around Kansas, and she also worked with the Old Iron Club and the Wilson County Conservation Auxiliary.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Bill, sons Robert and John, and brothers Richard Lamb and Lawrence Lamb.
She is survived by her sons Wayne Lefferd and wife Sharise of Weimar, Texas, and David Lefferd and wife Terry Settle of Fredonia. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Scott Lefferd and wife Rhonda of Topeka, Brian Lefferd and wife Jamie of Jacksonville Florida, Gordon Lefferd of Austin Texas, Edward Lefferd of San Antonio Texas, Jenny Bissitt and Hilary Settle of Fredonia, and ten great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at Farmington Cemetery on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 11am. Memorials have been suggested to any of the three: Wilson County Old Iron Club, Wilson County Conservation Aux. or the Fredonia Public Library, they may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
