Virginia Lois King's Obituary
Virginia Lois King, age 90, a resident of El Dorado, Kansas and formerly of Severy, Kansas passed away Sunday, May 1, 2011 at her home. She was born on November 20, 1920 in Walnut, Kansas the daughter of John Manning and Iva Barbara (McCaslin) Simmons. Virginia was a graduate of McCune Rural High School.
On October 20, 1940 she married Emmett Fred King at Labette, Kansas and to this union was born two sons, Richard and Kenneth and two daughters, Phyllis and Martha. Virginia was a homemaker. She was a member of the Severy United Methodist Church where she played organ for many years. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #171. Virginia enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening.
Virginia is survived by her sons, Richard King of El Dorado, Kansas and Kenneth King of Rose Hill, Kansas; her daughters, Phyllis Crowe of West, Texas and Martha Wolfe of Augusta, Kansas; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Emmett on May 15, 2000, two brothers Gerald and Verle, one sister Opal Stewart and her faithful border collie Addie.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Lake Creek Union Cemetery in Bartlett, Kansas with Pastor Ron Garrison officiating. Viewing will be held Friday from 3 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Family suggests contributions to either Hospice Care of Kansas or Kansas Humane Society and may be left with the funeral home.
