Wayne Otto Apollo's Obituary
Wayne Otto Apollo, 95, of Fredonia, KS passed away peacefully on, March 19, 2018 at his home. Born south of Fredonia to Otto and Elsie (Miller) Apollo, March 22, 1922, he lived around Fredonia all of his life.
After attending school at West Rainbow and farming for a few years, he served in the U. S. Army, stationed in New Guinea during WWII from 1942 to 1946. In 1950, he married his wife, Christena (Bonner). Wayne was a hard working steward of the land and arguably planted the straightest rows of crops around (and that was long before GPS). He farmed and ranched several areas in Wilson County. Wayne was extrememly loving and proud of his family. He and Christena had 3 children; Patti Bays (David) of Prescott, WI, Logan Apollo (Teresa) of rural Fredonia, and Danny Apollo (Susan) of rural Neodesha.
He is also survived by his sister Helen Lohrenz of Marshfield, WI, 7 grandchildren, 1 step granddaughter, 12 great grandchildren, as well as his loving friends, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christena, his parents, two brothers; William (Bill) Apollo of Fredonia and Calvin Apollo of Wichita, and his sister, Wilma Clarke (Robert) of Topeka.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia with Rev. Gene Benefiel officiating, with burial to follow at Fredonia City Cemetery.
