Wilbur Dean McGee's Obituary
Wilbur Dean McGee, age 76, a resident of rural Elk City, Kansas passed away at his home on August 28, 2013. He was born on August 30, 1936 in Perry, Oklahoma the son of Robert and Lois (Sutherland) McGee.
Wilbur worked in the aircraft industry and retired as Executive Vice President of L & S Machine Company. He was a member and a Deacon of the First Christian Church in Elk City, Kansas. Wilbur was a past member of the Wichita Manufactures Association. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, cutting wood, four wheeling and moving dirt with his heavy equipment. Wilbur was the “rock of his family” and a true giver and pillar of the community.
On August 14, 1981 Wilbur was united in marriage to Marcia Bozarth and she survives at their home.
He is also survived by children; Rick McGee of Freeport, Kansas, Tina Hacker and husband Larry, Scott Furnish and wife Tiffany, Mark Furnish and wife Cathy all of Goddard, Kansas, DeeDee Lubbers and husband Cary of Wichita, Kansas, brother Olen McGee of Wichita, Kansas, 20 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mildred Dillingham.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Elk City and at 1:30 p.m. at the Pathway Church in Wichita, Kansas with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Friends may stop and sign the register on Monday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to either Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the Huntington’s Disease Society of America and may be left with the funeral home.
