Biil Carl was a terrific teacher, friend and mentor, who cared for each student. I remember our Junior High young, kind, fantastic 9th grade teacher, and we were the first class he taught after coming to Chanute. I felt lucky tohave had him as a teacher and friend, and It's hard to convey the loss I feel. Bless each of you, and thanks for sharing Bill with all his students. My prayers and thoughts are with your entire family. R I P dear Bill.

What a legacy of memories this man has left. I would dare say that thousands of people view him as their "own" favorite teacher! I know he sure was one of mine! I always laugh when I think of how he would always say to me, "Oliphant, move your big hair so other people can get the fan..." those were the days before air conditioning. He always encouraged his students to do what interested them and he was the only teacher I ever had that made history interesting......What a lovely human being, Thank you Mr. Carl for all the great memories!
My deepest sympathy to your family, Nancy. Bill meant so much to so many of us. He affected my life and the path I took, in such a positive and meaningful way. I've always been so grateful he was a a part of my life. I know you will miss him greatly, and so will we. Comforting to know he's in good hands. Much love to you and your family. Connie Small Brown
As one of the students that Mr.Carl impacted over the years, I say thank you. When I became a teacher myself, he was one of the myriad of excellent role models I had encountered in the Chanute school system. Strangely, my most vivid memory today is his warning the class about brown recluse spiders. And it seems like he showed us a scar he had from a serious bite. Talk about personalizing the instruction!
Peace to the family.
