William Leo "Bill" Frederick's Obituary
William L. Frederick, age 88, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Windsor Place in Iola, KS. Bill was born October 14, 1926 to Leo and Hazel (Mueller) Frederick in Humboldt, KS.
Bill attended Humboldt schools and graduated for Humboldt High School in 1944. On February 18, 1951 Bill married Nelva Jean Myers in Eureka, Kansas. Bill worked as a farmer and rancher his entire life and also lived in the Woodson and Allen County area his whole life. For a period of about 10 years, Bill also worked at Gates Rubber Company in Iola. Bill was a member of the Humboldt Coop during its existence.
Bill enjoyed attending auctions and going hunting and fishing, especially coon hunting. He was a great at whistling and loved to do that. It is said that you could hear him whistling a mile away.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, Jack Frederick, son-in-law, Darrell Honas and grandson, Travis Yoho.
Bill is survived by his wife Jean, children: Gary Frederick and wife Marsha of Humboldt, Linda Honas of Humboldt, and Jim Frederick and wife Trina of Humboldt, a sister-in-law, Marcia Herder, grandchildren: Chad Frederick, Brent Frederick, Kellee Woods, Josh Honas and Andy Honas, great grandchildren: James Jackson Frederick, Trenton Yoho, Trinity Yoho, Eliot Are, Riley Woods and Cooper Woods.
Funeral Services for Bill will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11 a.m., at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt, KS. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will take place at Dewitt Cemetery west of Humboldt. Family suggests memorials to the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) or to the American Diabetes Association and may be left with the funeral home.
