William E. Hise's Obituary
William “Bill” E. Hise, 96, of Fredonia, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. Bill was born on November 8, 1929, in Fredonia, KS., the son of Maurice and Leota C. (Eflin) Hise.
Bill was a graduate of Fredonia High School class of 1948. On August 19, 1949, Bill married Rachel A. Black, they just celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary. On January 18, 1952, Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Germany until his return in 1953. Bill and Rachel made their home in Fredonia; Bill worked at the LaFarge Cement Plant for 44 years until his retirement.
Bill enjoyed working with old tractors and was one of the original founders of the Old Iron Club. He also enjoyed going to garage and yard sales, taking annual trips to Silver Dollar City, working in his shop and going hunting and fishing. Bill was also a previous member of Adopt-A-Family, and the Fredonia Youth Club. He also found great enjoyment drinking coffee with his friends and enjoyed watching the KC Chiefs with his daughter.

Daughter in Law: Anita Hise of Fredonia, KS
Goddaughter: Carlette Craig and husband Rodney of Severy, KS
Brother: Dwight Hise of Topeka, KS
Brother and Sister in Laws: Thelma Cass of Bartlesville, OK and Charles Black of Oklahoma City, OK.
Grandchildren: Ashley Johnson and Michael Craig
Great Grandchildren: Brooke Johnson and Grant
Nephew: Mike Jeffers
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Sisters: Lois Ann Hise and Maurine Burns
Great Grandson: Junior Dean Craig
A Celebration of Life services will be held on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025, at 11:00 am at Countryside Funeral Home. Memorials have been suggested to either the Old Iron Club or Alzheimer’s Association and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home 420 S. 20th St., P.O. Box 247, Fredonia, KS 66736.
