William J. Houdyshell's Obituary
William J. Houdyshell, age 85, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Fredonia, Kansas. He was born on March 23, 1925 in Anderson, Missouri the son of Saul and Elsie Ruth (Ball) Houdyshell. William was a graduate of Fredonia High School.
William was very patriotic and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and the Wilson County Old Iron Club. William enjoyed hunting, fishing and tearing apart and rebuilding old tractors.
William is survived by one son Darrel Houdyshell of Brussels, Belgium, one daughter Paula Fortner-Parks of Bel Aire, Kansas, three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Betty Jones.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Fredonia City Cemetery with Rev. Gene Benefiel officiating. No visitation will be held. Memorials are suggested to the VFW or the Wilson County Old Iron Club and may be left with the Countryside Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
