William Leslie Robinson's Obituary
William Leslie Robinson, age 87, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Tulsa, OK. William was born on December 11, 1930 at Caruthersville, Missouri to Leslie John and Cecil Louise Kinder Robinson.
William was raised and attended schools in Caruthersville, MO, moving to Pierce City, MO in 1947. He then worked on the family farm south of Pierce City in the Jolly Community. William entered the U.S. Air Force in November of 1950. He served in the 815th Air Police Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL and then at Lakenheath Royal Air Force Base in Lakenheath, England. After returning to the United States, he was stationed at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, KS and was honorably discharged in November of 1954.
William married Barbara Sue Arnett, at the First Christian Church in Chanute on March 7, 1954. After living in Topeka, KS, they moved to Southern California in June of 1957 where he worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver. They returned to Chanute in 1974 and he worked in the truck shop at Merle Kelly Ford, farmed, did custom harvesting in the Chanute area and retired from Environmental Transportation Services as a truck driver in 1996. William enjoyed gardening, fishing and woodworking.
William was born again on August 8, 1965 and baptized on September 1, 1965 at the Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Redlands, CA. He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church for over thirty years. In 2008, he joined the membership of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee.

William was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; son, Marc; son-in-law, Bob Triplett and brother, James Robinson.
A funeral service will be on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church in Chanute, KS. Interment will follow at Leanna Cemetery East of Chanute. The Chanute Honor Guard will be in charge of military honors. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
