Anna Elmera Friederich's Obituary
Anna Elmera Friederich, age 95, of Chanute, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Chanute, Kansas. Anna was born on August 29, 1921 in Bertha, MO the daughter of Homer and Maude (Chaney) Matlock.
On June 24, 1942, Anna married Donald O. Friederich, Sr. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute. Donald survives her.
Anna was a loving wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and a great-great grandmother. She once worked in retail at the Kress store but spent most of her life as a homemaker. Anna was loved by all and neighborhood kids were known to congregate in her home. She had several nicknames including, “Honey,” “Grandma Great,” “Little Grandma,” and was often called “Peewee” by her husband, Donald, Sr. According to those who knew her, Anna was the nicest person you would ever want to meet. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, and watching birds in her yard. Anna was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute, KS.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gene Matlock and William Matlock; two sisters, Eva Moore and Ida Barlow; and one great-granddaughter, Lindsey Maria Friederich.
A Graveside Service will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Chanute, KS on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been suggested to the American Cancer Society or St. Patrick Catholic School and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
