My condolences to Billy’s family. He was a great guy! I got to know Billy working on the trash truck one summer. He always wore a smile and kept a young guy laughing. He possibly saved my life one day traveling down US 160 east of Moline, keeping the trash truck on the road while watching the right front wheel, tire and hub go flying down the highway. Rest In Peace, Billy

I can't even say what Daddy Bill meant to me and my life. He's the one that taught me how to hunt, cut wood, haul hay, and definitely fish. He was there at every football game and I can still picture him standing in his flannel shirt near the 10-yard line. Most of all, he taught me how to be a good person, respect others, and treat people with decency. I never met or knew anyone that had one bad thing to say about my stepdad and I can only hope that follows me. I'm sad that I couldn't be there for the funeral but I've been truly lucky to have talked with him nearly every week. There wasn't a call that went by where he would make fun of my Cowboys and just offer a small chuckle at how well his Steelers were doing. As his son, I'm going to miss him something awful but I'm comforted in knowing that Bill has left a wonderful and permanent mark within my heart and the community. I miss you Bill and I spoke with Jim today, he said to tell you that he misses you too. Rest in peace and you'll always be with me. -- Darel
I played football with Billy when I was a freshman at Grenola HS and he was a senior. By the end of the year and with all our injuries I was playing.center and Billy got moved off the line and became a running back. Learned real fast to get out of his way on running plays. Billy always had that smile on his face.
