Bonnie (Truitt) Mustoe

Bonnie Mustoe, age 89 of Longton, KS, went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2020, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born at Hale, Kansas, on November 16, 1930 to Ruby (Elmore) and Ben Truitt. Following the death on June 9, 1945 of her brother Rex Truitt on Okinawa during World War II, the family moved to Longton, Kansas. Bonnie graduated from Longton High School in 1948. She married Maurice (Bob) Mustoe on August 26, 1948, and the couple made their home on their ranch south of Longton until December of 1986, when they moved to Escondido, California. Bonnie worked as an Administrative Assistant at Union Gas, Inc. in Independence, Kansas, for 24 years before moving to Escondido, California. She then worked as an Administrative Assistant at the San Diego Wild Animal Park for 20 years. She also worked part-time at the Chamber of Commerce in Escondido, after retiring from the Wild Animal Park. She enjoyed traveling, and especially enjoyed any occasion that would bring her family all together. She loved her family and her extended family. She was a friend to all. Bonnie was a member of the Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido, where she served as President of the Keenager Board, was a Greeter at the 8:00 AM church service and was an active participant of the BYKOTA Sunday School class. She recently relocated from Escondido to Longton, Kansas and was looking forward to being re-engaged in the community. Bonnie is survived by her three children: Cathy Mustoe Mitchell and her husband Harvey of Escondido, California/Longton, Kansas Karen Mustoe Crosslin and her husband Gary of New Douglas, Illinois Mark Mustoe and his wife Kathy of Leawood, Kansas Nine grandchildren Lauren Weaver (Mitchell) McCoy of Camarillo, California Morgan Mitchell Wasem of Tehachapi, California Michael Mitchell of Escondido, California Kaycia Crosslin Buehler of Staunton, Illinois Karissa Crosslin Smith of Staunton, Illinois Kailey Crosslin of St. Robert, Missouri Raymond Crosslin of Yorba Linda, California Kent Mustoe of Abilene, Texas Whitney Mustoe of Johns Island, South Carolina Five great-grandchildren Molly and Greg McCoy of Camarillo, California Russell Wasem of Oceanside, California Victor and Kaliana Buehler of Staunton, Illinois Sister Patsy Hoover of Euless, Texas Many nieces, nephews and cousins, along with many friends She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice (Bob) Mustoe; parents Ben Truitt and Ruby Elmore Truitt; her brother Rex Truitt and sister Doris Truitt Woodman. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020, 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, KS 67349 Funeral service will be Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Elk Valley High School Gymnasium, 701 S.
