Bonnie (Truitt) Mustoe's Obituary
Bonnie Mustoe, age 89 of Longton, KS, went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2020, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She was born at Hale, Kansas, on November 16, 1930 to Ruby (Elmore) and Ben Truitt. Following the death on June 9, 1945 of her brother Rex Truitt on Okinawa during World War II, the family moved to Longton, Kansas. Bonnie graduated from Longton High School in 1948. She married Maurice (Bob) Mustoe on August 26, 1948, and the couple made their home on their ranch south of Longton until December of 1986, when they moved to Escondido, California.
Bonnie worked as an Administrative Assistant at Union Gas, Inc. in Independence, Kansas, for 24 years before moving to Escondido, California. She then worked as an Administrative Assistant at the San Diego Wild Animal Park for 20 years. She also worked part-time at the Chamber of Commerce in Escondido, after retiring from the Wild Animal Park.
She enjoyed traveling, and especially enjoyed any occasion that would bring her family all together. She loved her family and her extended family. She was a friend to all.
Bonnie was a member of the Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido, where she served as President of the Keenager Board, was a Greeter at the 8:00 AM church service and was an active participant of the BYKOTA Sunday School class. She recently relocated from Escondido to Longton, Kansas and was looking forward to being re-engaged in the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice (Bob) Mustoe; parents Ben Truitt and Ruby Elmore Truitt; her brother Rex Truitt and sister Doris Truitt Woodman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020, 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, KS 67349
Funeral service will be Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Elk Valley High School Gymnasium, 701 S. Delaware, Longton, KS 67352
Memorial contributions in Bonnie’s name can be made to the United Methodist Church of Longton, The Elk County Fire and Rescue, or the Wycliffe Bible Translators USA and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
