Charles Grant "Charlie" Towne's Obituary
Charles Grant “Charlie” Towne, age 67 of Chanute, KS, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at NMRMC in Chanute. He was born May 14, 1951 in Junction City, KS, the son of Melvin and Doris (Hitt) Towne. Charlie graduated from Abilene High School in 1969. He graduated with a Bachelor of Sacred Literature from Ozark Christian College and a Masters of Arts from Liberty University. On July 30, 1983, he married Vicki Rhodes in Baxter Springs, KS. She survives at their home.
Charlie worked as a probation officer for many years and also served as an interim pastor for many local churches. He really enjoyed spending his free time helping area churches. Charlie loved sports and enjoyed being involved in them in any way he could, from umpiring baseball games to doing the announcing at the college basketball games and occasionally volleyball and baseball. Charlie was a member of the Kiwanis and the Christian Church. He will be greatly missed.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward Towne.
Cremation has been requested. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Ambassador Christian Church in Chanute, KS. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family suggests memorials to be made to Chanute Christian Academy and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS 66720.
