Donald Gene Everly's Obituary
Donald Gene Everly, 72, left this world peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born in Chanute on August 9th, 1945 and graduated from Chanute High School class of 1964. He met Sandy Frazier while living in Kansas City and they were married August 16th, 1969, celebrating nearly 49 years of marriage. She survives at their home.
Best known as “Coach”, Donnie had the gift of bringing out the best in a player. His love of the game gave him 50 years of Coaching and Volunteering. In 1995 He was a recruiter and interim coach at Neosho County Community College. He conducted Softball Clinics for a few SE Kansas High Schools. For 2 years Donnie taught fast pitch to The Kansas HS Athletics Association Coaches Clinic. Even though Softball was his passion, he also enjoyed Golfing and Bowling. He attended the Living Word Assembly, and he served on Chanute Recreation Commission, and on the board of the Faith house. Donnie loved to help those who had difficulty helping themselves. He worked as a Targeted Case Manager and retired from Southeast Kansas Independent Living (SKIL) on August 10, 2010. Before that he worked at the Southeast Kansas Mental Health Center and Tri-Valley Developmental Services. He was a Special Olympics coach, and looked forward to the Special Olympics each year.

Donnie is preceded in death by his Father and Mother Clarence (Chub) and Irene Everly, two sisters Ladena Mauk and Sharlena Pitts.
A celebration of life will be held at Living Word Assembly, 1000 W. 14th, Friday July 20, 2018 at 11am. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. The family asks in lieu of flowers, suggested memorials be made to Chanute Christian Academy or Don Everly Softball Memorial on his behalf and may be left at the church.
