When I was a freshman in high school, I wanted so bad to learn to play the piano, but had no money for lessons. Eulaliia offered to give me lessons...in exchange for me working for her. Oh, the fun it was! I enjoyed my hour of working, much more than the lessons. I continued to do this throughout high school, however, I did not ever finish the 2nd grade book... it it was not because she didn't do her part. It was because I didn't do my practicing! Poor Eulalia... how she must have hated that hour of sitting at the piano and listening to my mistakes! But she would laugh and we would have such fun. I learned to butcher chickens, clean out the barn, snap green beans, wash jars before canning,... oh, so many fun things, And she made it all so fun. Rita and Billy were little kids and I can still hear her hollering for them to come to the house. I loved it at the Bird's house and will always have a very special place in my heart for Eulalia.
