Fred Gutierrez Ysusi's Obituary
Fred Gutierrez Ysusi, age 84, passed away at his home in Chanute, KS on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Fred was born December 11, 1932 in Marquez, Texas, to Heriberto G. and Catalina (Gutierrez) Ysusi.
He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. After he finished his service, he married Isabel Cruz of Parsons, KS on January 4, 1958 in Erie, KS.
Fred was a family man. He was a wonderful and loving husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, and friend to many. He was a quiet man but loved to dance and listen to his Tejano Mexican music. Fred was gentle, kind, and had a great sense of humor. He loved playing poker and was very well-known in the community. During the 45 years Isabel babysat children in their home, he was a second dad to those kids and loved them as his own. Fred was employed at Ash Grove Cement Company in Chanute, KS for 37 years and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Ysusi of Independence, KS; and sister, Josephine Ysusi Sanchez of Humboldt, KS.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chanute, KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately after at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Chanute Honor Guard will be in charge of military honors. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been suggested to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Building Fund and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
