Gena Laurette Kimzey's Obituary
Gena Laurette Kimzey, age 60 of Longton, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at her home. Gena was born July 29, 1956 in Fredonia to Gene and Melba (Edwards) Johnson.
Gena was a graduate of Elk Valley High School, as well as a graduate of Labette County Community College, where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse. She was an active member of the Longton community and a Longton County Fair Board member. She enjoyed quilting, cross stitching and reading, but most of all loved and enjoyed her kids and grandchildren.
On May 31, 1975, Gena married Kevin Kimzey and was the love of his life for 42 years and 11 days.
Survivors include:
Husband, Kevin Kimzey of the home.
Children: Andrea Renee Kimzey (Michael) Winters, and Joseph Gene (Tatum) Kimzey
Grandchildren:
Miles Andrew Gadelman, Keeli Jo Kimzey, Karci Lee Kimzey
Siblings:
Seth Johnson, Sean Tindle, and Licia Nichols
Gena was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Tami Laurette Kimzey
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, with private family burial to follow. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 10 AM - 12 PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
