Helen "Andy" Louise Anderson's Obituary
Helen “Andy” Louise Anderson, age 89, of Chanute, KS passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 in Parsons, KS. Helen was born on February 6, 1927 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ruth James (Hayhurst) Anderson and Harry Logan Anderson.
Helen began teaching in 1949 and in 1954 began her teaching career in Physical Education, coached girls sports, such as tennis and track, and led the drum corps at Chanute High School. She later served as Chanute High School Counselor. Helen was also a senior Girl Scout Leader and formed the Wing Scout Troop. After her retirement From USD 413 in 1995, Helen volunteered as an advocate for at-risk children in the Chanute community. She was an educational voice for students in foster care in association with her work for CASA.
Known as an inspirational woman with a great sense of humor, Helen Anderson took on many leadership roles throughout her life and has had many a lasting impact on those whose lives she touched. With her wisdom, quick wit, faithfulness, and grace Helen helped many a person reach their full potential that has reached across generations.

Two nieces and four great nieces
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Westfall, and two nieces.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chanute. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
