John Irvin Sanderson's Obituary
John Irvin Sanderson, age 90, of Chanute, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home in Chanute, Kansas. John was born on October 22, 1926 on a farm in Williamsville, Missouri, the son of Albert Charles and Lillie Bell (Nelson) Sanderson.
On March 27, 1954, John married Ann Elizabeth Cooper in St. Louis, Missouri. Ann preceded him in death on March 24, 1979.
John served in the United States Navy from July 1, 1944 to June 28, 1946 as a Fireman 2nd Class V-6. After serving his country, John attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, returning to the family farm upon the death of his father, Albert Charles Sanderson. John was the Manager of a fertilizer plant until he retired. He volunteered at Chanute Utility Assistance Program and was a former trustee for Neosho County Memorial Park. John was a member of Westview Southern Baptist Church in Chanute for the last 53 years.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann; and brothers, Walter Ray Sanderson, Glen Charles Sanderson, Paul Nelson Sanderson, and William Hugh Sanderson.
A Visitation will be held at Westview Southern Baptist Church in Chanute, KS on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Westview Southern Baptist Church in Chanute, KS on Saturday, January 14, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. The Chanute Honor Guard will be in charge of military honors. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been suggested to the Chanute Utility Assistance Program or Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery (Upkeep/Maintenance/Improvement Fund) and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
