Joseph Junior Maloun's Obituary
Joseph Junior Maloun, age 72, of Chanute, KS passed away at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS on April 10, 2018. He was born to Joseph Frank and Leah (Schick) Maloun in Marion, KS on September 22, 1945. He married Joyce Bohrer in Iola, KS on January 26, 1966. She survives at their home.
Joseph graduated from Chanute High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969, serving one year in Vietnam. He started working at Ash Grove Cement Company in 1974 until retiring in 2011. Joe was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He was a man of few words, but known to be ornery. In his spare time, he enjoyed going fishing.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Waits; and sister, Mary Ann Hunter.
Cremation has been requested.
The family will hold a casual celebration of life on April 21, 2018 from 2-4:00 p.m. at Chanute American Legion. Chanute Honor Guard will be in charge of military honors which will be presented at 2:30 p.m. The family would appreciate any stories of Joseph and online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been suggested to Cherry Street Youth Center, Castaways Animal Shelter, the Fire Escape Coffeehouse, or Horizon Hospice and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
