Karen Gail Drisdell's Obituary
Karen Gail Drisdell, a vibrant and beloved member of the Chanute community, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas. She was 77.
Born November 14, 1947, in Chanute, Kansas, to John and Mary (Keller) Borgen. Karen graduated from Chanute High School in the class of 1967. She married Doug Drisdell, and later divorced. In 1978, began a cherished journey with her life companion, Mike Mugrage, who predeceased her in 2014.
Throughout her life, Karen touched many with her warm spirit and infectious personality. She held various positions, including roles at Ross Musical, Holiday Inn, and State Farm, showcasing her versatility and dedication. Known for her exceptional hospitality, Karen was the ultimate hostess, renowned for her memorable parties and generous spirit. She was a social butterfly, enjoying shopping excursions, relaxing by the pool, and most importantly, spending time with her cherished family and friends. Her love extended to her beloved dogs and cats.
Karen possessed a unique blend of strength, kindness, and a captivating style. While known for her strong will and outspoken nature, her caring heart always shone through. She will be remembered for her unwavering loyalty and the deep love she shared with those closest to her.
Karen is preceded in death by her life partner, Mike Mugrage; her parents, Howard and Elizabeth Borgen; and her brother, Bob Olsen. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be carried on by her daughter, Jennifer (Todd) Taylor; her granddaughters, Haley (Dillon) Wolverton and Ashley Webb; and her great-grandchildren, Briley, Rilynn, and Brexton Webb, and Jaxson and Gander Wolverton.
Visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home in Chanute on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the family greeting friends. A Celebration of Karen's Life will follow at 3:00 pm at Jennifer Taylor's home, 3870 S. Katy Ave., Chanute, KS 66720. All are welcome to attend and share cherished memories of Karen. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Karen's name may be made to your local animal rescue and can be left with the Countryside Funeral Home.
