Kim Edward Houdashelt's Obituary
Kim Houdashelt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 10, 2026 at the age of 64
He is proceeded in death by his father and mother Howard Raymond and Violet Bryant Houdashelt, sisters Clara (Gary) Ingle, Jill Simmons and son Joey, Dorothy Zierk.
He is survived by his wife Terri Houdashelt, sister Robin Ward and Etta (Ronnie) Stanley, brother Kerry Houdashelt. Children and grandchildren; Brandy (Jim) Stiffler, Kyra Klotzbach, Erika (Chuck) Blackburn, Deacon and Peytience, Sam (Jennifer) Son, Declan and Nolan, Alex Son, Lincoln, Espin, Drew, Karah (Mike) Kellogg, Cameron (Samantha), Kyson, Josiah, Jeremiah, Lucas, Abby (Jesse) Boss, Wyatt, McCoy, Callahan, Tommy, Joanna, Nathan Son, granddaughter Addi VanGilder In-Laws Laura (Pete) Leroy, John (Terri) Leroy, numerous nieces and nephews and lots of friends he considered family.
He will be remembered above all as a hero. In an act of courage and selflessness, he saved his grandson, an act that reflected the kind of man he was throughout his life. He put others before himself and showed unwavering love and protection for his family and friends.
He loved everybody, and everybody loved him. Known for his kind heart and generous spirit, he had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for wherever he went.
He dedicated 30 years of his life working at CTS, where he was respected for his hard work, commitment, and integrity.
Outside of work, he had a deep love for motorcycles. He cherished time on the open road, especially during family road trips that created lasting memories. He loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a devoted sports fan cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas Jayhawks, and the Humboldt Cubs, sharing that passion with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Assembly of God Church in Humboldt on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 4pm. A live feed will be available with the church.
He will be deeply missed , but his legacy of courage, kindness, and love will live on in all that knew him.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Humboldt USD 258. Donation can be left with Countryside Funeral Home at 101 N Highland, Chanute KS 66720. All donations will go to Humboldt USD 258 to provide CPR for all students.
