Mary Lou Carpenter's Obituary
Mary Lou Carpenter, 84, of Chanute, KS passed away on March 4, 2019. She was born to William and Rosie (Reed) Stone, one of nine children, in Chanute, KS on August 27, 1934 and was a lifelong resident. Mary married Ralph Carpenter on February 2, 1952 in Eureka Springs, AR and they spent over 30 years together before he preceded her in death on July 29, 1983.
Mary was a loving mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She loved her family above all, followed closely by her love of bingo. She also enjoyed fishing and babysitting for small children. Mary worked a few different jobs throughout her life, but spent the last of her working years at Heritage Healthcare where she worked in the kitchen and laundry room. She was a proud member of Chanute First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Carpenter; twin sons, Lloyd and Lonnie Carpenter; grandson, DeWayne Zillner; son-in-law, Bernie Zillner; and all of her eight siblings, including her twin.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home – Gibson Chapel. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Chanute First Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. followed by interment in Elmwood Cemetery in Chanute. Online condolences may be left at: www.countryside.com. The family suggests memorials be made to Horizon Hospice and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
