Max Grogan's Obituary
Max Grogan, 90, of Thayer, KS, passed away on March 27, 2018 at Heritage Health Care in Chanute, KS. He was born on September 8, 1927 in Chanute to Benjamin and Jewell (Long) Grogan. On September 4, 1960, he married Evelyn McKinsey in Thayer. She survives at their home.
Max was a loving husband and father. In his youth, he enjoyed boxing and was a Golden Glove boxer. His love for the sport continued throughout his life and he attended boxing matches with his son, Larry, well into his later years. Max also enjoyed playing softball and played for many years as a member of his church team. He was a hard worker and put in many years as a machinist at the Dr. Pepper plant in Chanute, Bush Hog plant in Galesburg, and the Tolle Manufacturing Company in Chanute. Max loved going to eat at restaurants, often going three times every week to his favorites, Poor Boys and Café 169 in Thayer, KS and Pizzo’s in Parsons, KS. He was a very faithful member of New Life United Brethren Church in Chanute, KS where he hated missing any services, and rarely did, and enjoyed attending the small group meetings there. He will be missed by those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Archie Grogan, Ira Grogan, Carl Grogan, Earl Grogan, and twin Merle Grogan; and sisters, Eva Rains, Bernice Ruhl, Retha Grady, and Eleanor Gibson-Rains.
Cremation has been requested.
A memorial service will be held at New Life United Brethren in Christ Church in Chanute, KS on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, KS. Chanute Honor Guard will be in charge of military honors. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been suggested to Alzheimer’s Association or New Life United Brethren Church and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
