Nadine Merle Whitworth's Obituary
Nadine Whitworth, age 99, passed away Sunday, July 31st at Brookdale Senior Living Facility in Overland Park, KS. Nadine and Bill left their home in Chanute, KS due to declining health on July 22, 2010, where they could be near their son Yancy and his wife Sue.
She and her husband Bill celebrated their 78th wedding anniversary in January one week before Bill’s death on January 16th; he was 101 years old.
Nadine grew up in rural Neosho County with her parents Earl and Ceva Yockey and five siblings. They have all preceded her in death except her youngest sister, Edna Beck who lives in Enid, Oklahoma.
Nadine and Bill had two children: Kay Beech of Chanute, KS and Yancy Whitworth of Overland Park, KS. Kay Beech passed away on October 2, 2009.
Nadine is survived by her son Yancy, his wife Sue, son-in-law Max Beech of Chanute, grandchildren Cheri Berg and husband Dale of Lawrence, KS, Shelly Beech and Liz Whitford of Lenexa, KS, Kent Whitworth of Kona, HI, Chris Whitworth and his wife Toni of Overland Park, and seven great grandchildren.
Nadine and Bill loved dancing. They often were seen at the American Legion in Chanute when a country & western band was playing well into their 90’s.
Nadine was always a gracious hostess and she cared for her mother for twelve years prior to her death at age 101. She often visited relatives and friends in nursing home, taking special treats with most of her visits. Her grandchildren loved her and looked forward to being with her. Her chicken and noodles were a favorite as well as wonderful pies.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cremation has been requested. The family is planning a graveside service in Shaw Cemetery, followed by a luncheon for family and friends at Opies Restaurant. The date for this service is not yet set.
