Neva Carlene Jordan's Obituary
Neva Carlene Haynes Jordan of Chanute, Kansas, went to be with the Lord in heaven on September 22, 2014 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.
Carlene was born the daughter of Carl Chester Haynes and Loma Cyrenia Ann “Jackie” Wilson Haynes on September 13, 1937 in Chanute, KS. She went to Chanute High School and graduated in 1955 with top honors. Carlene was a Christian woman that believed in Christ and prayed for everyone she ever came in contact with. She wore a smile upon on her face and carried it in her heart. Carlene worked in upholstery and was self-employed for 21 years. She was the best mother to 5 children and wife ever. Carlene also worked at Home Lunch Café, Birdview Electronics, Everbrite, Chanute Healthcare, P.C. Board, Hi-Lo sewing department, and the Cabinet Shop. Carlene loved to play the piano, she taught lessons, played at several weddings and church services, and also sang and played the tambourine. Carlene enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and shared both with many people. She enjoyed canning food as well. Carlene painted all kinds of art. She sewed for a living in her early years and made her family and friends all kinds of items. Carlene enjoyed crocheting and knitting, of course making one of each for everyone even people she worked with. Carlene was famous for making pies, just ask anyone who ate one of the millions of pies she made. God blessed us with her. Most of all she loved people and would do anything for anyone she knew, she spoiled us all!
Carlene is survived by her husband John V. Jordan, two sons; Steven Joe Jordan & John Carl Jordan, three daughters; Yvonne Higgins, Valerie Jean Grady and husband Jeff, daughter; Mitzi Taylor and husband George all of Chanute, Seven grandchildren; Jerimiah Harding, Daisy Harding, Zachary Grady, Matthew Grady, Forest Jordan, Dustin Ellsworth, & Derek Ellsworth, Seven great grandchildren; Patricia Outlan, Myleigh Eseck, Emelie Jones, Erik Jones, Toryn Ellsworth, Kaylin Grady, Liera “Carlene” Grady, two sisters; Janice Carlene Jones and Patricia Ann McMurtray of Wichita, KS one brother; William Dean Haynes, Chanute and several Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews and Great Great Nieces and Nephews.,
She was preceded in death by parents Carl and Loma Haynes three, brothers; Ronald Dean “Bub” Haynes, Byrle Franklin Haynes, Neil Francis Haynes, a grandson; Cody Joe Jordan.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home Gibson Chapel in Chanute, KS. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., at the Church of the Nazarene in Chanute, KS. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
Family suggests memorials to be given to the Church of the Nazarene in Chanute to help with the children activities as Carlene loved children.. . Countryside Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. On-line condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
