Nicholas Scott Holloway's Obituary
Nicholas Scott Holloway left the earth unexpectedly on Feb. 11, 2015. Unfortunately he was involved in an automobile accident five miles south of Thayer, KS; he was only 34 years old.
Nicholas was born on Oct. 16, 1980 in Oskaloosa, KS; the son of David K. Holloway and Terri J. (West) Orozco. He was raised by his mother in Chanute, KS attending Chanute schools and graduating from Chanute High School in 2000. Nicholas was a big fan of motorsports, he could often be found at Humboldt Speedway watching the races. He was a reserve fireman while he was in high school; later he was a volunteer fireman in Buffalo, KS. Besides motorsports Nicholas was a Sooner’s fan, the University of Oklahoma was his team and he watched them avidly. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Chanute, KS.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his Grandfather Floyd L. West, Uncle Jay “Scott” West and his Step-Father John J. Orozco. He is survived by his Mother Terri J. Orozco and Step-Father J.L. Lopez, Grandmother Louise West; his siblings: Marina K. Lewis and husband Richard, Anne N. Hartwig and husband Glenn, all of Chanute; Robert J. Orozco and wife Michelle of Gardner; Emily D. Orozco of Fredonia; and Christopher Lee-Lopez and wife Ana of San Diego, CA. In addition, Nicholas is also survived by his Aunt Jana L. Geiger of Neodesha, KS and his cousins: Caleb Geiger of Pittsburg, Hallea Jo Geiger of Chanute and Jillian M. West of Eau Claire, WI. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Nicholas was a bright, caring individual and was known for his wonderful smile, he will be greatly missed.
Graveside memorial services for Nicholas are planned for Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 2:00PM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. The family will meet with friends the evening prior to the service; Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 5:30-7:30PM at the First Baptist Church- Good News Center.
