Richard Lynn Dye's Obituary
Richard Lynn Dye, 84, of Gas City passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at home surrounded by family. Richard was born on May 3, 1938 in Iola, the son of Edward Neil and Mildred Grace (Davis) Dye.
Richard grew up in DeSoto, Kansas and graduated from DeSoto High School in 1956. On October 13, 1960, Richard married Joyce Barnes in Iola, they were married for 60 years until her passing on January 15, 2021. Richard was a very ornery man that loved to go fishing and when he was younger, he loved to hunt. When he wasn’t busy working or fishing, Richard loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking his dogs out on car rides to count the wildlife that they saw, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas Jayhawks basketball, and the Kansas City Royals.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Butch Tomlinson and Mike Smith. Richard will be missed by all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his two daughters: Allison Collins of Iola and Regina Robb of Iola, his son Keith Yocham (Beccy) of Lenexa, his sister Eileen Bailey of Nevada, his brother Steve Dye of California, six grandchildren: Miles Collins of Arkansas, Tyler Collins (Alicia) of Yates Center, Julie Defebaugh (Joe) of Chanute, Alexandria King, Kale King (Becky), MaKayla Robb all of Iola and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce and brothers Clyde Falls, Neil Dye, Tracey Dye, and Kenneth Dye.
Cremation has been requested with no service at this time. Memorials have been suggested to the family to help with funeral expenses and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Services entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home 101 N. Highland, Chanute, Kansas 66720.
