Robert "Bob" William Frederick's Obituary
Robert “Bob” William Frederick, 92, of Chanute passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Bob was born on December 19, 1931, in Owl Creek (rural Wilson County), Kansas, one of eleven children of Raymond and Clara (Westerman) Frederick.
Bob grew up in Allen County and attended the local schools. In 1953, Bob joined the United States Army and served his country honorably until 1955. Upon his return home from the Army, Bob began a life and career as a master electrician. He worked for the City of Chanute for awhile before starting his own electrical business that he ran until his retirement in the late 90’s.
In 1985, Bob married the love of his life Valerie Boyd in Las Vegas, Valerie survives at the home. Bob was an outdoorsman at heart, he loved to fish, play golf, and do anything else that would allow him to experience nature. Bob also enjoyed playing pool and good drink, especially Scotch. Bob was a very social man that had many friends and had a great sense of humor.
Bob was a member of the Chanute American Legion Post 170, Chanute Elks 806, and the Chanute VFW. He is greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his wife Valerie Frederick of Chanute, KS, his children Troy Frederick of Topeka, KS, and Gina Carlson (Rick) of Chanute, KS, his brother Tom Frederick of Chanute, KS, his sister Velma Nordhus of Centralia, KS, five grandchildren, Lauren Walski of Shawnee, KS, Mitch Carlson of Mission, KS, Michelle Kepley, Ginger Reichert of Chanute and Katie Lewis of Parker, CO. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Lloyd, Clarence, Ralph, Ruth, Rita, Marcella, Geraldine and Ruthann.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 9:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 am. Burial will take place following mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Humboldt with military honors being performed by the Chanute Honor Guard. Memorials have been suggested to St. Patrick’s Catholic School and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
