Sammy Nooteboom's Obituary
Sammy “Sam” Nooteboom, 60, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Pittsburg, KS. Sammy was born on October 13, 1955 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, the son of Nicolaas and Tina (Verkaik) Nooteboom.
On October 13, 2010 Sammy married Deborah (Michael) Nooteboom in Eureka Springs.
Sammy moved to the United States from the Netherlands in 1956 at the age of one. He attended high school in Chanute, Kansas then joined the United States Air Force where he served from 1974 to 1978. He also attended college at Neosho County Community College in Chanute. Sammy held various jobs as a welder and carpenter in Dallas, Texas and most recently worked for Wal-Mart. He loved fishing and watching sports.
Sammy was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie, children: Jason Nooteboom, Chad Nooteboom, Nick Nooteboom, Zack Nooteboom, and Eva Nooteboom; step-children: Jennifer Garber, Jessica Pond, and J.D. Sexton; brothers: Ranier Nooteboom and Pete Nooteboom; and 4 grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute, Kansas. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2015 10-12 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, Johnson Chapel. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
Family requests memorials to Shriners Hospital for Children and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home at 101 N. Highland, Chanute, KS.
